Jobs With Tyler Perry Studios!

Well now I ran across this by happenstance!  One of my wonderful Black Enterprise editors asked me to cover a Tyler Perry event called The Entrepreneurial Mind at the Fox a few weeks ago.  He met with about 150 business owners a few hours prior to his play.  It’s true what they say about t.v. adding several pounds.  He actually has a slender build and is such a NICE person!  But I digress… I went on his website to find a little background info on he and his company.  I ran across this link and I had to share it with you!  If you would like to work with Tyler Perry Studios, please click on this link:  You can fill out a little info and copy and paste your resume into the email.  It’s as easy as that!  Best of luck to you!  That would be so cool!  I’ve completed my article, please look for it in the July issue of Black Enterprise.

Teens!  Please sign up for Summer Jobs with the U. S. Department of Labor!

Well now!  We can thank President Obama and Secretary Hilda Solis for this one!  Special thanks to our former DeKalb District Attorney Gwen Keyes Fleming for this golden nugget of information!  Teens across America, please sign up to be the first to know about Summer Jobs available in your hometown!  Please click on the link below to enter your email address!

Thanks Congressman Johnson for hosting this much needed event.
Dear Friends,
More than a year ago, Georgia received $340 million from President Obama’s “Hardest Hit Fund” — known as HomeSafe in Georgia — to help unemployed homeowners avoid foreclosures. But not enough is being done to get the word out and to get the funds where they are needed most.

That’s why on Saturday, April 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Salem Bible Church, I’m co-hosting a community event to help struggling homeowners learn more about HomeSafe. I’m holding the event with HUD-approved counseling agency D&E and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.
To pre-qualify and to register, visit D&E’s Web site at or homeowners can call them at 770-961-6900 or toll-free at 1-877-790-1831.
HomeSafe provides up to an 18-month mortgage-payment bridge to Georgia homeowners who have suffered a substantial income loss due to involuntary unemployment or underemployment and who are able and willing to work.
The event will also provide opportunities for homeowners who do not qualify for HomeSafe to meet with counselors who can check on their eligibility for a loan modification through their lender.
For more information, go to D&E HERE.
The event is free and open to the public. If you’ve lost your job or you’re underemployed and you’re having trouble making your mortgage payments, please stop by Salem Bible Church on Saturday, April 28 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to see if HomeSafe can help you.
WHO: Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04), DeKalb County, Department of Community Affairs, D&E.
WHAT: HomeSafe Georgia Foreclosure Prevention Event
WHEN: Saturday, April 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
WHERE: Salem Bible Church: 5460 Hillandale Drive, Lithonia 30058; Exit I-20 Panola Road – Hillandale Drive is one block north of I-20; turn right on Hillandale Drive; Salem Church is less than ¼ mile on the left.

HELPING STUDENTS: House Democrats announced April 24 that we will introduce legislation to keep college students’ loan rates from doubling on July 1st. The “Stop the Student Loan Interest Rate Hike Act of 2012” keeps interest rates on need-based student loans at 3.4 percent next year for the more than 7 million borrowers. This will save the average borrower $1,000 in loan repayment costs. For more, click HERE.

Welcome to the Harvard College Financial Aid Office

Harvard College has provided assistance to students who need help in meeting their education expenses for over 350 years, enabling us to seek out the most outstanding scholars in the world and open our doors to students of exceptional ability and promise, regardless of their financial circumstances. Over 60% of undergraduates will receive an estimated $172 million in need-based Harvard Scholarship aid in 2012-13. Just in the past five years we have increased our financial aid by over 70 percent, enhancing our program to ensure the affordability of a Harvard education even in these challenging economic times.  We understand that the thought of financing four years of college can be a daunting prospect for anyone, and we are eager to help you and your family understand our financial aid programs and assist you in finding ways to meet your college costs. All of our financial aid is awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need – there are no academic, athletic or merit-based awards, and we meet the demonstrated need of every student, including international students, for all four years.  We invite you to explore our web site for a detailed description of all aspects of our aid program, including our Harvard Financial Aid Initiative for low and moderate income students, under which families with incomes currently below $60,000 are not expected to contribute to college costs.  Beginning in the fall of 2012, financial aid will be further expanded for low income students, when this income level will be increased to $65,000. We do not consider home equity or retirement accounts as resources in our determination of a family contribution, and aid packages do not include any loans. A typical student may receive over $150,000 in Harvard scholarship assistance over four years and the majority of students receiving scholarship are able to graduate debt-free.  Our program continues to be generous for students across the economic spectrum, with more than two thirds of those receiving scholarship assistance coming from families with incomes greater than $60,000. We invite prospective students and their families to complete our Net Price Calculatorto receive an individual estimate of their scholarship eligibility and cost of attendance at Harvard. We look forward to working with you. ———————————————————————————————————————————————— Thanks to my Sorority Sister Alma for this one!Subject: Scholarship Information
